Argg… I am tired and frustrated
Filed in Uncategorized on May.03, 2010
Today I have been ruled by emotion. All I want to do is go and eat everything that comes in my way. I think I need to take a step back. I keep getting pulled into trying to feel popular on here with comments and twitter and I feel a bit ashamed of it. Why am I still letting others qualify me. Argg.
Anyway, I won’t be posting this week. Hopefully I will step back to it and feel better about it all. Sorry to be so pissy today.

Sam..Sam..Sam…One step at a time…You are motivated, you want this, and there isn’t anything wrong with wanting to belong…but you are right…no one else can qualify you…as much as we wish we were part of the large IN crowd. You help others even when your pissy .. we all get that way ….
Instead of step back…how about a tiny step forward everyday…short posts like this are just as good as those gung ho ones…actually sometimes it is more..because you are just like us!
I too tried very hard to fit in to the twitter crowd, wish and hope for lots of comments to measure how I was doing on the writing. Once I saw how much it helped me to feel connected it got a lot easier but I had to push through…
I personally hope to see you BEFORE the week is up…Hang in there

AMEN to the wizdom which is Jules.
When we look outside ourselves for validation its simply freakin exhausting as we are always GUESSING what other people wanna see.
I know it is easier said than done—it took me 30 years to finally realize it doesnt matter.

Your short post touched me, Sam. I just want to say that I understand. I’ve been there too–many times. It gets better, much better, once you learn that the only opinion you really need to be concerned about is your own.
Learn to look within for validation because if you search hard enough you’ll find it there. Looking to others for acceptance, validation and popularity is a sure ticket to depression and disappointment.
You have nothing to feel ashamed about, Sam. We all have similar feelings now and then. Just hang in there. Never give up. Giving up is never an option.

Sam – I found you through another blogger and I have to say I love what you have to say. I totaly get where you are and what you are coming from. I’d like to continue to read if that’s okay.

Found you from Jules – BGB. I hear you… it gets hard in the blog world with so many of us out here. I felt that way too alot. Wanting to get more comments & wanting people to want to come to my site BUT I had to realize that I know I am doing it cause I want to help others but they can also help me. I had to get past the need to be “popular”.
Don’t let this take control of you & ruin any hard work you have put into your weight loss. This is about you & getting healthy. It is a mind thing but I hope you feel better after the break & don’t let other things get in the way.

Jules sent you my way…
You know, it isn’t the popularity that jazzes me, it is the support. The people who follow me actually give a darn, and I love ‘em right back. That is why Jules sent me and everyone else: SUPPORT!!
Get right on your horse and start trottin’ again. I will be following along, cheering all the way.
Cheers,
Missa

I understand how you feel. It can be so difficult in blogland, but what helped me, especially in the beginning, was to finally realize that I was writing to help other people and as a reminder to myself of my 150 pound weight loss journey.
You are doing great – blogging doesn’t define who you are. You are worth the effort irregardless of what happens in blog world.
Take care of yourself and stay strong.

Sam, we who read what you have to say are the benefactors of your experience, whether that’s through positive things or negative things that happen in your journey. Some of my favorite people in Blogland are laid-back, normal peeps, and actually, if they aren’t, they just kind of annoy me! I like average, stable people who are just doing the job. You don’t need to be anymore than who you are. You may feel you want more attention, who doesn’t, right? It feels great to be loved, it does, but it’s not important in the long run. Your sweet family and the love they have for you is important; you’re important, and being healthy is important for all of you.
If what you’re going through helps just one young man or woman to become healthy, along with you…it’s so worth it, Sam. Like they said on last week’s Biggest Loser, “You are the hope, that others can see.” Just be the hope, Sam.
